Yoav Y. Biton earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc.in Mechanical engineering at Ben-Gurion University. He later received his M.Sc. in Theoretical Mechanics at Rutgers University, NJ, where he completed his Ph.D. in Mechanics and Materials Science. His doctoral research with Prof. Bernard D. Coleman dealt with the development of a theory of DNA elasticity that accounts for both long range intra-molecular electrostatic forces and the dependence of elastic properties on nucleotide sequence. Dr. Biton performed his post-doctoral research on the Mechanics of living cells at the Weizmann Institute of science, and a following post-doctoral research on molecular mechanics at the department of Mathematics, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2014 Dr. Biton Joined Shamoon College of Engineering, SCE, Beer sheva as a lecturer, and he presently teaches a wide range of courses in the department of Mechanical engineering: Statics, Dynamics, Robotics, Theory of Machines, Strength of Materials, Nano-Mechanics, and Numerical analysis. Dr. Biton’s research interests are in the area of continuum and applied mechanics, including molecular mechanics, soft matter physics, and robotics
