Adi Katz, Senior Lecturer, is head of the department of Industrial Engineering & Management (IE&M) at Shamoon College of Engineering (SCE), Ashdod campus, Israel. She is also head of the Information Systems track, and of YOUsability (Usability Research Center) for developing and testing technological artifacts. Adi specializes in the areas of human-computer interaction (HCI), computer-mediated communication (CMC), and conceptual database modelling. She received her B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) in Behavioural Sciences and M.B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) in Business Administration at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, and Ph.D. in Business Administration at Bar-Ilan University, specializing in Information Systems
Adi’s main research interests include cognitive and affective aspects of user interface (UI) design, usability, user experience (UX), user empowering design (UED), and conceptual database modelling. Adi has published papers in journals such as Organizational Science and Interacting with Computers (IwC). Her paper in IwC, entitled “What is Beautiful is Usable” (co-authored with N. Tractinsky and D. Ikar), has been cited close to 2,000 times. Her teaching portfolio is broad, focusing on human-computer interaction, databases, and information and communication technologies (ICT). Adi is also head of the institutional review board at SCE Ashdod
