Oshra Ilan Saphier, PhD

I have graduated as Bsc, Msc and PhD in biophysical chemistry at Ben-Gurion University, Israel

I have been a Lecturer of chemistry at Shamoon's college of engineering since 2001. As part of my role and because I was among the first lecturers in my department, I've instituted and developed a variety of chemistry courses, while utilizing innovative instruction technologies. During that period, I've taught introductory courses in chemistry, courses in general chemistry and advanced general chemistry, as well as courses in analytical chemistry

Throughout my lecturing career I've received more than six accolades and prizes for in the college of engineering and the Ben-Gurion University, for being an excellent lecturer

My research deals primarily with anti-oxidant levels and oxidative stress in biological systems in vitro. This research deals primarily with infant diet, breastmilk and substitutes for milk that's consumed by infants. Additionally, I deal with research involving the shelf-life of foodstuffs that are sensitive to oxidation processes, being rich in unsaturated fatty acids. The systems being researched are physiological systems involving states of oxidative stress

Moreover, I'm a member of a research group that has researched the anti-bacterial properties of monovalent copper for seven years. This research has members who are micro-biologists from the college of engineering, a chemist from the chemical industry, a practicing plastic surgeon from Soroka hospital. The idea is to achieve formulations that can cure chronic wounds. This research has been applied as a provisional patent is expected to be accepted in the following months
