ד"ר יוליה פנסו
My name is Dr. Julia Penso. I'm a lecturer and belong to the academic staff at the Chemical Engineering Department of Shamoon College of Engineering (SCE)
I completed both my M.Sc and Ph.D at the Department of Biochemistry, Bar-Ilan University, under supervision of Prof. Rivka Beitner. My Ph.D thesis on carbohydrate metabolism in tumor cells focused on the regulation of glycolytic flux by specific metabolites, which affect the association of glycilytic enzymes with both the cytoskeleton and mitochondria. Furthermore, I investigated drugs with regard to potential inhibitory effects on the energy metabolism of cancer cells. The work was published in several well-respected scientific journals, and constitute a significant contribution to the field of cancer research
I did my post-doctoral studies in Weizmann Institute of Science, aiming to broaden the spectrum of my scientific knowledge and to learn new methods and techniques. During two years I extended my research spectrum from biochemistry and pharmacology to advanced molecular biology
