Dr. Elad Shufan is a the head of the physics department at Ashdod Campus of the Shamoon College of Engineering (SCE). Elad achieved B.Sc. and Ph.D. from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel (BGU). The Ph.D. research field was theoretical condensed matter physics, for which Elad won a Kreitman Doctoral fellowship for “outstanding achievements in academic and research studies”. Elad research now deals with developing and implementing mathematical models for problems of engineering. One of Doctor Shufan’s research interests involves applying spectroscopic tools in tandem with pattern recognition methods for characterization and identification of different biological samples. Another of Doctor Shufan’s research activities includes resolution of scheduling problems. He and his colleagues have developed an exact polynomial algorithm for solving a fixed-route Dial-a-Ride problem. In addition, they are working on resolution of generalized open shop problems. Elad has won teaching excellence prizes from both SCE and BGU
