Research

Research and development (R&D) is a key area of activity in every academic institution.

The Shamoon College of Engineering sees itself a leader in academic advancement and development of the Negev - Israel's southern region. In order to realize these and other national goals, SCE pursues R&D and academic excellence in all of its engineering departments.

It supports a wide range of projects and research efforts, as well as joint activities among faculty members and departments, with other institutions, and in related scientific fields.

Research is encouraged and aided by a combined effort at three levels: financial assistance, infrastructure support, and administrative backing.

Financial assistance: the college invests in research projects with internal funds. Faculty members are provided with grants after their requests are approved according to strict academic and budgetary standards.

The bulk of the funding goes to initial-stage, exploratory research. Precedence is given to joint faculty and multi-disciplinary efforts.

Infrastructure support: the college's largest and most advanced laboratories are made available for research projects.

Administrative backing: SCE's administrative offices and staff encourage and assist all research efforts.
