Modern industrial competitiveness depends on innovation. Our Mechanical Engineering Department aspires to attract top level youth in Israel to specialize in the field of complex engineering design. The academic programs we offer prepare the next generation of mechanical engineers with cutting edge engineering capabilities to lead the changing needs of Israeli high-tech industry.

The aim of our program is to train mechanical engineers to design and develop complex products that integrate advanced technological innovations and serve the needs of humanity.

Israeli hi-tech industries, striving to compete with world markets, are seeking mechanical engineers with multi-disciplinary knowledge in diverse fields of: industrial design, human engineering, marketing, biomedical engineering, electro-optics and mechatronics.

Our department offers two interdisciplinary programs:

  1. B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering in Product Design.
  2. B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering in Mechatronics.

§         B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering in Product Design

This program is based on StanfordUniversity's program B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering in Product Design and on leading Israeli hi-tech industrial needs to integrate engineering sciences and design. With its emphasis on engineering design courses and projects in collaboration with leading hi-tech industries in the design workshops, this track prepares graduates to become innovative engineers who play a key role in designing and developing state-of-the-art electronic and biomedical products in the context of social needs.

The design studio provides the core for the Product Design program, giving the students valuable experience and teamwork skills to design and develop advanced new products in collaboration with leading hi-tech industries.

Students will be required to combine their acquired engineering knowledge with cultural and aesthetic sophistication while exploring and developing their creativity through their projects in the design studios.

Graduates will be employed in leading Israeli hi-tech industries as design engineers, product managers, product development managers, R&D engineers and will be a vital component in teams that design and develop advanced new products.

§         B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering in Mechatronics.

The Mechatronics program was developed in response to world technological advancements that have left traditional mechanical engineering programs obsolete.

In today's global industrial reality, mechanical systems are integrated with electronic and computerized systems and have transformed into mechatronic or electro-mechanical systems. These new systems not only play a crucial part in high-tech industries, but are also integrated into most of society's new consumer products and technologies.

The Mechatronics program integrates both the mechanical and electronic aspects of engineering to prepare graduates to become skilled in the engineering design and development of mechatronic systems.

The engineering curriculum provides all the required courses for the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and in addition includes advanced courses in electrical and electronic engineering, signals, control, sensors and computerized systems necessary to steer mechatronic systems.

Mechatronic design laboratories are emphasized in this program where students acquire hands-on experience in designing and developing mechatronic systems.

Graduates will be employed in leading Israeli hi-tech industries as mechanical engineers in engineering development teams that design and develop mechatronic systems.
