The Chemical Engineering Department is focusing on the following research areas:

The GreenProcessesCenter:  In consequence of the growing awareness of environmental challenges, this area has undergone significant growth in recent years.  The Center deals with the development of new and special ways to produce chemicals which are environmentally responsible.  These include approaches of biotechnology, making use of multi-phase systems and/or single-pot approaches.

An additional area of research concerns the production of catalysts:  This is being done using special nano-scale techniques.  Additional researches in the department are focusing on biological systems (biotechnology) such as electrochemical methods for determining the level of free radicals in chronic sores.  Other investigations involve biochemical makeup of the environment of the new-born.

In the area of bioinformatics we are carrying out research on the genetic structure of bacteria and its effect on pathogenesis.
